Timothy J. Dewson

We are heartbroken to announce the sudden passing of our beloved Husband, Father, Son, Brother and Friend, Tim Dewson.

Timothy J. Dewson, 67, of Wilmington, Delaware, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 4, 2021. Born on February 22, 1954 in Wilmington, Tim was the son of the Margaret K. Dewson and the late Thomas E. Dewson.

Tim’s profound dedication to the local community and his life-long passion for building excellence truly defined his character. He brought his remarkable devotion, experience, vision, and energy to the construction industry when he started Dewson Construction in 1993. Tim’s goal was to build a company with a relationship approach, where craftmanship and attention to detail were the priority. Through endless hours of labored love, Dewson Construction became the success he dreamed of, was Tim’s pride and joy, and will undoubtedly be his legacy.

It is undeniable that Tim’s cherished relationships with his family, his Dewson Construction family, his friends, and community members, were what encouraged him to help others. Tim’s leadership and devotion were obvious through his persistence in helping whoever was in need, teaching whoever wanted to learn, and most importantly, loving and caring for whoever came into his life. Tim’s selflessness and genuinely pure intentions touched many lives in many ways. All who were fortunate enough to receive one of Tim’s big teddy bear hugs know that he had an enormous heart of gold.

Tim will be deeply and forever missed by his wife, Barb, his stepsons Connor and Jake Hattersley, his mother Margaret, his brother Tom, his nephew Tom III, wife Eileen and great nephews Teddy and Henry. Tim was predeceased in death by his father, Thomas E. Dewson.

Due to Tim’s extensive community outreach, and with the Covid Pandemic still upon us, private services will be held for the family. An extended Celebration of Life gathering will be held in the future.
