Timothy S. Abrams, 55, of Newark, DE, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, April 2, 2025. He was surrounded by his loving family and will be deeply missed.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 31 years, Tricia (Ciminello) Abrams; his children, Sean, Lily and Gwen, and his father, Joseph Abrams. He is also survived by his uncle, Gerald Abrams. In addition, Tim is survived by his mother-in-law, Kathryn Ciminello, brothers-in-law, Michael and Bill Ciminello, and sisters-in-law, Susan Ciminello and Karen Hanling (Scott Reese). He was an incredibly proud uncle to his wonderful nieces and nephews. He was so thrilled to be a great uncle to six beautiful children. Tim was blessed with amazing and caring cousins. He was honored to have fantastic lifelong friendships, including family friends, high school and college friends, work colleagues, and his extended community, whom he loved like family.
He was predeceased by his mother, Margaret (Kempski) Abrams, and his father-in-law, Michael T. Ciminello.
Tim attended the Independence School and was a graduate of St. Mark’s High School. He attended the University of Delaware, obtaining a bachelor's degree in history. An avid golfer since childhood, his first job was at Three Little Bakers Golf Course. His love of the game led him to Somerton Springs Golf Shop. His various jobs took him to MBNA where he pursued his interest in banking. He finished his career as a senior reporting analyst at Sallie Mae.
Tim was truly honored to coach the St. John the Beloved soccer team, Sean’s club soccer teams, and the St. Marks Boys golf team. He was so proud and loved all the kids and families.
A devoted husband and father, he made it a priority to attend every soccer and volleyball game, choir and theatre performance, football game, and cheer competition. He really loved his role in and was so supportive of the family business, Kathryn Ciminello’s School of Dance.
The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to all the doctors, nurses, and staff who cared for Tim during this journey.
Family and friends are invited to visit at St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington on Thursday, April 10 from 10:00 – 11:45AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00PM. Interment will be held privately.
