Theresa B. O'Boyle

Theresa B. O'Boyle, formerly of New Castle, Delaware peacefully passed away on January 26, 2025, in Media, Pennsylvania. She was born on July 8, 1929, in Pittson, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late Joseph and Emma Evans Boyle. She was the widow of James A. O'Boyle who died on January 29, 1978.

Theresa grew up in Pittston, Pennsylvania, and was a graduate of Pittston High School and St. John's Business School. As a young woman, she moved to Wilmington Delaware to pursue opportunities for her livelihood and worked for the DuPont Company. She later was employed for several years in the Colonial School district, from where she retired in 1991.

Therea’s greatest joy came from being a dedicated mother and grandmother. She was a full-time homemaker while raising her five children in New Castle, Delaware and only returned to work after they were all in school. Theresa often described these years as the best of her life. She was also most proud that all her children graduated from college, as Theresa valued and prioritized education and the foundation it provided for the successful careers of her children.

She was a member of St. Joseph on the Brandywine Church. She attended the Academy of Life Long Learning and was a volunteer for the Junior Board of St. Francis Hospital.

She is survived by three daughters and two sons. Mary Theresa Volkman and son in law Robert; James A. O’Boyle and daughter in law Margaret; Colleen A. O'Boyle, Martin P. O’Boyle, and daughter in law Lily; and Erin R. O'Boyle. In addition, she is survived by seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is survived by two sisters, Catherine Boyle and Rosaleen Dabson, and two brothers, William P. Boyle, and James A. Boyle.

The memorial service will be private, and will be held at a future date to be decided by the family.
