Theodore "TJ" J. Sywy, III

Theodore J. Sywy, III, “TJ”, age 47, passed away suddenly on Thursday, December 31, 2021.

Born in Wilmington, “TJ” is the son of Linda M. (McFarland) Downs and the late Theodore John Sywy, Jr. He is preceded in death by his brother, Jeffrey Sywy in 2019. He is survived by his mother, Linda M. Downs; her husband, Charles P. Downs, Jr.; and his brother, Christopher Sywy; his sister-in-law, Judy Weeks Sywy; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends.

“TJ” attended St. Elizabeth Elementary School and graduated from St. Elizabeth High School, class of 1992. He loved all sports but particularly baseball; and coached St. E’s CYO pitching for a few years. He was also a two-time All Catholic Pitcher in 1991 and 1992, and played in the 1992 Blue/Gold All Star Baseball Game.

“TJ” worked at Serenity Place in Dover, Delaware and was dedicated to helping others with addiction. He will be remembered for his warm and loving personality and willingness to lend a hand to anyone.

Family and friends may visit beginning at 10:30 AM on Thursday, January 13 at St. Elizabeth Church, Cedar and Clayton Sts., Wilmington, DE 19805, where a Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 12 Noon. Interment will be private. The family kindly requests guests attending to please wear a mask.
