Stephen J. Letnianczyn, “A to Z”, age 51, passed away unexpectedly at home on Thursday, March 19, 2026.
He was born in Wilmington, and was a graduate of Dickinson High School. Out of high school, Steve worked in the restaurant industry as a manager, most notably in Dewey Beach during the summer, and in Wilmington during the winter. He ultimately found his niche in the mortgage industry, working as a loan officer for over 30 years, most recently with Meridian Bank.
Family, Friends, and the Philadelphia Eagles, were the cornerstones of his life. He enjoyed nothing more than cheering on his beloved team in the company of those he loved most. Dewey Beach, Jamaica, and Florida, all held a special place in his heart. Steve cherished nothing more than his role of a husband and father; and will be remembered as a kind and outgoing person who always looked to help others in need. He will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his wife, Sawdia (Salmon) Letnianczyn; his children, Isabelle and Kingston Letnianczyn; his parents, Steve Letnianczyn and Jane Misero; his brother, Jerry Letnianczyn (Maria); his nephew, Little Jerry “LJ” Letnianczyn; as well as several members of his extended family and countless friends.
Steve was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joseph and Jean Misero; Andrej and Iwana Letnianczyk; and his aunt, Anna Steptoe.
Family and friends are invited to visit from 4:30pm – 7:30pm on Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington, DE 19808. An additional viewing will take place in Church on Thursday, March 26, 2026, from 10:00am – 10:45am, with a Mass of Christian Burial to commence at 11:00am. Interment will be private. Steve's family asks for attendees to wear green in his honor.
In the spirit of the Lenten season, please omit flowers. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Nevus Outreach (for Kingston’s skin condition) or to The Stephen J. Letnianczyn Memorial Fund, dedicated to helping his wife and children navigate this difficult time.
