Sherry (Leslie) Wenger

Sherry Wenger passed away peacefully on March 26, 2023 from cancer.

She was born August 21, 1941 in Evansville, Indiana, the only child of Gwendolyn and Edwin Leslie.

Sherry prided herself on her education, having graduated with her B.A. from Michigan State University; completing her M.A. in American History from Michigan State University; and her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Delaware. Sherry had been in private practice since 1981 helping hundreds of patients as a trusted Psychologist.

She loved the beach, gardening, reading, the companionship of her cats and especially cherished spending time with her grandchildren.

Sherry is survived by Brad (Julie Miro) and Kelly (Eric Miller); and four grandchildren whom she adored; Andrew, Sophia, Finnegan and Copeland.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 51 years, Ron Wenger.

The family would like to thank the staff and nurses at Accent Care Hospice at Wilmington Hospital and Sherry’s beloved friend and companion, Robert Gilbert, with whom she spent the last five years.

All are welcome to attend a Memorial Service at the Newark Unitarian Fellowship, 420 Willa Road, Newark, DE 19711 on Wednesday, March 29 2023 at 5:00 pm.
