Shawn David DiZio, age 32, of Newark, Delaware passed away at his residence on September 28th, 2021.

Shawn was born on February 12th, 1989 to David and Barbara DiZio (nee Hand) and was a 2007 graduate of McKean High School, where he excelled in competitive swimming.  Shawn was the oldest of three children. He was a caring and gentle soul who had a great sense of humor and was loved by all those who knew him.  An avid Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan, Shawn also enjoyed going to the Jersey Shore, specifically, Wildwood Crest where he and his extended family would go every year growing up.  Shawn also loved taking care of his beloved dog Abby. 

Shawn is preceded in death by his mother, Barbara DiZio (nee Hand); his paternal grandfather, Michael DiZio; and his maternal grandfather, James Hand.

Shawn is survived by his father, David DiZio of Newark, DE; his brothers, Kyle and Eric DiZio of Newark, DE; his paternal grandmother, Geraldine DiZio; and his maternal grandmother, Lorraine Hand.  Shawn also leaves behind many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. 

A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 8th, 2021 at Doherty Funeral Home located at 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington DE, where the family will receive guests from 11:30am-1:00pm. A Catholic Prayer service will begin promptly at 1:00pm.

In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made to AtTAcK Addiction of Delaware and/or The American Cancer Society in honor of Shawn and his late mother whom he loved very much.
