Scott J. Granger, 68, of Wilmington, Delaware, peacefully passed away on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at The Lorelton. Born in Wilmington on January 6, 1957, he was a son of the late John and Helen (Sheridan) Granger.
Scott was a graduate of Delcastle High School and earned his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Delaware. He was employed as a lab technician with the DuPont Company, primarily at the Experimental Station, and completed his career at the Chestnut Run Site.
An avid athlete throughout his life, Scott was both a quarterback and a point guard in high school, known for his leadership and love of the game. He remained active in sports throughout his life, especially finding joy and relaxation on the golf course. He was also an avid runner who completed several marathons and took great pride in maintaining his endurance and determination over the years.
A lifelong music lover, Scott found joy and meaning in the songs and stories of his favorite artists. His passion for music was a constant through every season of his life, often serving as both his comfort and his celebration.
Scott faced a long and difficult illness with remarkable strength and humor, never allowing it to dim his spirit. Even through the toughest days, he was known for his upbeat attitude, quick wit, and appreciation for life’s small pleasures. He was especially proud - much to his family’s amusement - that he still had a full head of brown hair up until his very last day.
He is survived by his children, Michael Granger (fiancée, Samantha Hessling) and Kara Granger (fiancé, JD Craft); his siblings, Jacqueline Anemone (husband, Ted), Linda List (husband, Lance), David Granger (wife, Doris), Lois Derrickson, Paul Granger (wife, Donna), and John Granger (wife, Leeann). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and their families.
Scott was predeceased by his sisters, Janet and June Granger, and his brother, Richard Granger.
Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek, on Thursday, October 30, from 9:30 to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM, immediately followed by interment at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Ashland.
