Scot D. Behnke, age 59 of Newark passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on April 29, 2022 after a 17 year long battle with Neuroendocrine Tumor (NETS) cancer.
Born on April 23, 1963 to Wallace and Elizabeth Behnke (nee Shelton), Scot was a lifelong Delawarean who made a 25-year career as an educator in the Red Clay School District. Scot was extremely passionate about his work as an educator, coach, and athletic director ensuring to deliver the best and most high quality experiences to his students and athletes.
When not educating, Scot could be found spending time with his beloved family, coaching his children’s sports teams, gardening, golfing, working in his backyard, doing home projects, or cheering on his beloved Dallas Cowboys. Throughout all of this, Scot went out of his way to make sure everyone was smiling, whether he graced them with a funny story, joke, or one of his famous impersonations.
Scot is preceded in death by his father Wallace and is survived by his loving wife of 31 years Diane Behnke (nee Harris) along with his three loving children, Samantha, Liam and Jordan. Additionally Scot is survived by his mother Elizabeth Behnke of Wilmington along with his brothers Alan Behnke (Donna) of Allentown, PA; Marc Behnke (Pat) of Randolph, NJ and Eric Behnke (Doris) of North East, MD.
