Sara "Sally" M. (Cameron) Stearrett

Sara “Sally” M. Stearrett, age 100, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 16, 2025.

She was born in Phoenixville, PA, daughter of the late Duncan and Sarah (Griffith) Cameron. In addition to raising her family, she worked for several years at Wilmington Dry Goods.

Her family and her faith were the pillars of her long life. She enjoyed traveling with the “girls club”; playing cards (and winning, at all costs); spending time at the beach in Wildwood, NJ; and especially cherished spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her sons, Mark (Gale), and Glenn (Kathy); her grandchildren, Heather (Rudy), Dawn (Tommy), Matthew (Kristina), Brian (Samantha), Christopher (Kacey), Kevin (Crystal), Joseph (Kaitlyn), David (Morgan), and Ashley (Adam); her 18 great-grandchildren; her sisters-in-law, Patricia, Kathryn, and Dolores; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and members of her extended family.

In addition to her parents, Sally was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Paul; her daughter, Anita Morgan (William); and her siblings, Bud, Alice, Alwilda, Hettie, and Irene.

Sally’s family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the nurses and staff of Accent Care Hospice for their care and compassion.

A funeral service will be celebrated at 11:30am on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808, where family and friends may visit beginning at 10:30am. Interment will be held in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
