Salvatore V. Santangelo has gone on in his journey to be with God and reunited with his beloved wife, Sylvia.
Sal graduated from Dobbins Vocational-Technical High School and later attended Villanova University. He built a long and accomplished career as a Senior Engineering Mechanical Machine Designer, working for several companies before joining the DuPont Company. During his time at DuPont, he worked in the ESD Department, the Department of Energy, and the Design Division. He retired in 1993, but continued contributing his expertise to DuPont as a contractor for six additional years, retiring again in 1999.
Throughout his career, Sal always strived to achieve the best design possible and took great pride in his work and accomplishments, of which there were many.
Sal shared fifty loving years of marriage with his devoted wife, Sylvia, until her passing in August 2004. He carried her memory in his heart and often said he had lived with a broken heart ever since.
He is survived by his sons, Andrew J. Santangelo and Dr. Joseph D. Santangelo and his wife, Dr. Samantha; his grandson, Michael J. Santangelo and his wife, Kate; his granddaughters, Michelle Lyn Palandro and her husband, Mike, and Mia Sylvia Nicole Santangelo; his great-granddaughters, Adison Elizabeth Santangelo and Josie Sylvia Palandro; his great-grandsons, Jase Andrew Santangelo and Dominic Salvatore Palandro; his sister-in-law, Loretta Di Furia; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
Sal was a loving man devoted to his family and committed to doing God’s will as best he could, hoping to be worthy of Jesus’ promises and to be reunited with his dear wife, Sylvia, in Heaven through the grace of God.
Sal would like to leave this world by sharing the Italian word “Arrivederci,” which he interpreted as: “until we see each other again… goodbye for the present.”
