Sally S. DiSabatino of Hockessin, Delaware, passed from this life on Monday, August 8, 2022. She was born in 1934 in McAllen, Texas where she spent much of her childhood with her grandparents. After high school, Sally was an undergraduate student of the University of Texas and worked as a medical secretary. She married, moved to Maine and eventually to Delaware where she raised her family.
Sally belonged to a stitchery group for many years which she fondly referred to as the “crewel group”. These women were her great friends who sewed, laughed and traveled together. She later joined a similar group at Cokesbury Village.
Sally returned to college after her children were grown and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Delaware Technical and Community College with a degree of Associate of Science in Counseling. She enjoyed all of her grandchildren as well as her great grandchildren.
She is survived by her four sons: Dominic (Anne), Mark, Matthew (R.C.) and David (Christine). She was predeceased by a middle sister, Norma Hummel Sarver of Benheim, Texas. She leaves a younger sister, Melba Taylor of Pearland, Texas and a favorite niece, Laura Lloyd.
Sally often expressed gratitude for her wonderful friends and her family, as well as her appreciation for the staff and residents at Cokesbury Village who made her home there a safe and pleasant place to reside.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Spirit Church, 12 Winder Road, New Castle on Tuesday, August 16 at 11:00AM. A private entombment will follow for immediate family.
