S. Nissley Gingrich Obituary

S. Nissley Gingrich II (Niss) passed away May 15, 2022 embraced by loved ones.  Nissley fought courageously and with determination to conquer his disease.  He never complained. Nissley loved his life and had zero regrets. He will be, he is, greatly missed.

Niss was preceded in death by his parents Bruce F. and Nancy Long Gingrich.  Niss grew up in East Petersburg, PA near Lancaster.  He attended Country Day School there meeting his best friend for life Myles.  Niss continued his education at Blair Academy in New Jersey.  He completed his formal education at Lynchburg College in Virginia. Niss came to live in Delaware after college.  He there continued his studies to become a Microsoft Certified Senior Engineer specializing in security.

Niss loved playing guitar, as well as bass guitar in many bands with his friends over the years. They enjoyed playing out at many venues including Fairs, Carnivals, parties and Bar Restaurants. Niss took a special interest in teaching “His little Genius” Fiona about music and encouraging her to develop that talent in herself.  They enjoyed many years of practice together at our home. Niss loved all of his friends’ children and took time to engage with them in their particular activities.   They all loved him back; and he welcomed them into our home always.

Niss was also adored by his fur babies who pinned him down, purred their great contentment with his lap or his chest, then snuggled for a nap with him whether he wanted a nap or not.

Nissley, a true Pisces, had a passion for the water in all forms including for boating, swimming and fishing, all with his best buddies around him.  He also enjoyed horse racing, Nascar, baseball and football games, a good game of pool, Baggo, or Frisbee, again with his many Buddies and me.

Niss was easy to love and was a lot of fun to be around.  He had a knack for being funny just because…

His sense of humor is what drew his Love of 33 years, Lisa Kanick, to him, who he leaves behind. She and her family will miss him dearly as they cared for him tremendously.

Nissley is survived by his Big Brother Charlie, Charles and Jodi Gingrich, former Sis-in-Law Terri Gingrich and David Hobbs, Bruce and Susie Gingrich, and sister Katie and Darin Tucholke, as well as his greatly loved 6 nephews and niece, along with their children.

Services to honor Nissley’s life will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at the Doherty Funeral Home 3200 Limestone Rd, Wilmington, DE 19808.  Friends and Family may visit from 10:00 - 11:30AM, followed by a Catholic Service at 11:30AM.

Niss will continue to live on in our hearts and memories forever… until we meet again…

All my Love Always Love,        Lisa  X XX  X
