RoseMarie Irene (Sama) Chiffons

RoseMarie Irene Chiffons, age 83, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 25, 2025.

She was born in Wilmington, the eldest of five children of the late Dominick and Irene (Cholewicka) Sama; and was a graduate of Wilmington High School.

Roe was an in-home daycare provider for over 30 years before retiring. She was a member of the Holy Rosary Society at St. Hedwig Church; and of the Claymore Senior Center. She loved reading and was known to read a book a day. When her children were young, she was a den mother for Boy Scouts; and also enjoyed gardening and growing vegetables. Roe used to take her kids crabbing while spending time at her parents’ Dewey Beach house - spaghetti and crabs was a summertime favorite. She also collected angel statuettes. Her grandchildren were the twinkle of her eye and she loved hearing about what they were doing.

In addition to her parents, Roe was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph Sama.

Roe is survived by her sisters, Christine Godfrey, Irene Sama, Victoria Varga; and sister-in-law, Barbara Sama, all of Wilmington, DE; as well as her children, Theresa Brumbaugh (Craig) of Hungtingdon, PA, John Davis Jr. (Stacey) of Trimbel, MO and Lewes, DE, Jamie Davis (Anita) of Wilmington, and Dominick Davis (Robin) of Millsboro, DE. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family. She will be dearly missed.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at St. Hedwig Church, 408 S. Harrison Street, Wilmington, DE 19805; where family and friends may visit beginning at 9:00am. Interment will be held in Cathedral Cemetery.
