Rose Piccirilli Obituary

Rose V. (Parisi) Piccirilli, 92, of Wilmington, Delaware peacefully passed away in the comfort of her home while surrounded by loved ones on Wednesday, May 17, 2023.  Born in Wilmington on September 7, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Maria (D'Amico) Parisi.

Rose was a graduate of St. Peter’s High School in New Castle and was a devoted homemaker.  She was a dedicated member of St. Elizabeth Church and the parish BVM Sodality.  Rose also enjoyed her memberships at Clarence Fraim and Claymore Senior Centers, where she remained active by swimming, line dancing, playing shuffleboard and bocce ball.  She enjoyed traveling, and made many memories taking trips with the senior centers.  For many years, she looked forward to her annual retreat during Mother’s Day weekend in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania.  Rose was an avid music fan and was happy to attend several concerts at the Wilmington Riverfront, and she enjoyed the delicious ice cream from Woodside Farms Creamery.

Her husband of 62 years, John N. Piccirilli, passed away on April 16, 2013.

Rose is survived by her son, Samuel Piccirilli (Kay); her daughters, Maria Nichols (Robert), Catherine Sheehan (Thomas) and Elizabeth Piccirilli.  She was a loving grandmother to Stephanie Saienni (Anthony), Kimberly Murphy (David), Jennifer Piccirilli, Megan Humphries (Joseph), Brian Sheehan (Robyn) and Samantha Vogt (Benjamin); and a proud great grandmother to Josiah and Isaiah Humphries, Christopher Saienni, Jackson and Cailyn Sheehan, Jordan Murphy and Jase Vogt.

In addition to her husband, Rose was predeceased by her great grandson, Evan Tyler Wheat; her brother, John Parisi; her sister, Frances Veneri.

The family would like to extend their deepest thanks to the staff at Evergreen Center, where Rose was so lovingly cared for over the last 4 years, as well as Accent Care Hospice, who compassionately cared for Rose during her final days.

Family and friends are invited to visit at St. Elizabeth Church, Cedar and Clayton Streets, Wilmington on Tuesday, May 23 from 10:00 – 11:45AM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00PM, immediately followed by interment in All Saints Cemetery.
