Rose M. (Dziepak) Garbowski

Rose M. (Dziepak) Garbowski, 82, of Hockessin, Delaware peacefully passed away on Friday, September 26, 2025 surrounded by loving family.  Born in New Brunswick, New Jersey on August 16, 1943, she was a daughter of the late Adolf and Rose (Koziatek) Dziepak.  

Rose was a graduate of South River High School in New Jersey, where she participated in varsity cheerleading, glee club and the B Naturals.  As an avid fan of music and dancing, she had great memories of dancing on American Bandstand with Dick Clark when the show took place in Philadelphia.  

Rose was very proud to be the wife of a United States Marine, and steadfastly supported her “Tommy” wherever the Marine Corps took them.  Affectionately called “Ramblin’ Rose” by her husband, they settled in Wilmington in 1977, and she began her career with the Wilmington Trust Company.  Rose was an active member of Christ Community Church and Limestone Presbyterian Church.

Also known as “Blinny” by many, Rose will be lovingly remembered by her children, Suzanne Rehrig and husband, Bill of Wilmington, Thomas M. Garbowski II and wife, Veronica of Wilmington, David S. Garbowski and wife, Brianna of Las Vegas, Nevada; her beloved grandchildren, Ashley (Jason), Brittany (Lee), Kayleigh, Taylor, Hannah, Madisyn, Kash, Brody and Vivian; her great grandsons, Travis, Carter and Lane; and her Goddaughter, Cathy Furru.

Her husband of 48 years, Thomas M. Garbowski Sr., passed away on May 13, 2010.  In addition, Rose was predeceased by her siblings, Shirley Hockenjos, Adolf Dziepak Jr., and Edward Dziepak.

Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek on Wednesday, October 8 from 10:00 – 11:00AM, with funeral services immediately following.

Interment will be held privately, at a later date, at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
