Roland W. Valentine, 91, of Newark, Delaware peacefully passed away at his home in the company of his loving wife and family on Friday, March 20, 2026. Born in Mahwah, New Jersey on November 3, 1934, he was the youngest of four children of the late Alfred and Cora (Ward) Valentine.
Roland was a graduate of Ramsey High School, Ramsey, New Jersey, class of 1952, and proudly served our country in the United States Army, having been stationed in Anchorage, Alaska for two years. Following his honorable discharge, Roland and June married on November 2, 1957 and began their life together. He began his career with Avon Products in Rye, New York in 1964 and eventually transferred to Delaware in 1980. He and June made their home in Newark, Delaware in 1982 and he remained with Avon until his retirement in 1996.
An avid golfer, Roland enjoyed his membership at 3 Little Bakers Golf Club. He was also a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Wilmington. He and June enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, Canada and Europe, making many memories along the way.
Roland is survived by his wife of 68 years, June (Hindy) Valentine; his children and their spouses, Scott and Beth Valentine, Keith and Michele Valentine, Linda and George Porter; 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Harold and Norman Valentine; his sister, June Seidell.
Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek on Wednesday, April 1 from 9:30 – 11:00AM. Funeral services will begin at 11:00AM, immediately followed by interment at All Saints Cemetery.
