Rocco Ray Tortorella, age 80, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 4, 2023.
One of the sons of the late Michael M. and Mary Blanche (Civerelli) Tortorella, Rocco was born in New York City in 1942. Rocco had a great sense of humor and a unique personality; everyone who met him loved him. He was good friends with Guy Villari from the Regents and wrote and published multiple songs, including “I’m All Alone” and “Mashed Potato Mary”. Rocco’s all-time favorite singer was Frank Sinatra and he was a huge New York Yankees fan. Rocco was a history buff with an extensive library and is considered an expert on the French and Indian War. He also loved and owned several sports cars including a Chevy 409 and multiple Mustangs.
Rocco is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 59 years, Francesca (Disanto); his three beautiful children, Ricky, Micky, and Windy. His family was his world and it has grown to include 8 grandsons and one great-granddaughter. Rocco also leaves behind three sisters, Anita, Maryann, and Antoinette; and one brother, Michael, whom he adored. Rocco adopted a dog, Casper, who became a beloved and now dearly missed member of the family.
Family was the most important thing to Rocco and he never missed a holiday or celebration with them. Sundays were always devoted to fellowship with his family and games. He will be greatly missed by all.
