Robert H. "Bob" Shelton Sr.

Robert H. "Bob" Shelton, Sr., age 78, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2026.

Born on June 22, 1948, at Elkton Hospital in Elkton, Maryland, Bob was the son of the late John F. and Margaret (Cox) Shelton. He was a proud graduate of Henry C. Conrad High School and went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps.

Following his military service, Bob worked for Pantry Pride before beginning a distinguished 36-year career with Delmarva Power in the Engineering and Construction Department. He was a dedicated member of IBEW Local 1238 and took great pride in his work and the friendships he made throughout his career.

Bob enjoyed staying active and involved in his community. He was a member of the University of Delaware Lifelong Learning Center in Wilmington, the Wilmington Ski Club, the New Castle Irish Society, the American Legion, and the Social Club at Angelo's in Forty Acres. He treasured the many friendships he formed through these organizations and was always happiest when spending time with family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Karla C. Shelton, and his brothers, John F. Shelton and James B. Shelton.

He is lovingly remembered by his son, Robert H. Shelton, Jr. and his wife, Melinda; his daughter, Lynn Marie Shelton; his stepson, Martin Bramhall and his wife, Denise; his sister, Tammy Shelton, and her wife, Marilee; his grandchildren, Lauren Shelton, John Shelton, Rebecca Buckley, Thomas John "TJ" Buckley, and Bridgett West; and his great-grandchildren, Chloe and Carter. He also leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends who will miss him greatly.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Monday, August 3, 2026, from 4:00PM-7:00PM at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Rd., Bear, DE 19701.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in Bob’s name to the American Cancer Society.
