Robert Y. Cardner, 89, of Greenville, DE, formerly of Norwich, NY, passed away at his home on May 10, 2022.
Bob was born in Canastota, NY to Merle and Ida Cardner. He graduated from Morrisville-Eaton Central School and attended Clarkson College where he received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. Bob worked many years for Norwich Eaton Pharmaceuticals before moving to Delaware to work at Astra-Zeneca. He retired as VP and Director of International Compliance from Astra-Zeneca in 1997.
In September of 1953, Bob married the love of his life, Mary Bush. They raised three children.
Bob had many passions. He was an avid golfer and loved playing the game with friends and family. In addition to sports, Bob enjoyed music, movies, and theater, and was a patron of Winterthur Museum and Longwood Gardens. Bob was also a theme park enthusiast and loved riding the rollercoaster.
Bob is predeceased by his wife, Mary and granddaughter, Beth Anne Hotchkin. He is survived by his three children, Barbara (Gary) Hotchkin, Norwich, NY, Catherine (Michael) Harvell, Upper Saddle River, NJ, and David (Kelly) Cardner, Hockessin, DE. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Keenan (Meg) Hotchkin, Allyson Hotchkin, Abby Harvell, Quentin Harvell, Emily Cardner, Katie Cardner, and Chloe Cardner; and great grandsons, Cillian, John Paul, and Fionn Hotchkin. Bob is also survived by his brother Leland (Ginny) Cardner, Gorham, ME, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation and services will be Tuesday, May 24 at 10:30AM - 12:00PM at Doherty Funeral Home located at 1900 Delaware Avenue, Wilmington, DE 19808. Interment will follow at St. Joseph's on the Brandywine.
