Rita K. (Braun) Maloney, 86, passed away peacefully in comfort surrounded by her loved ones on Wednesday, May 4, 2022. The family would like to thank those who cared for her and recognize her Great Granddaughter, Sondra Jones for being her consistent caregiver. Born in Bronx, New York on March 31, 1936, she was the Daughter of the late Anthony and Evelyn (Murnighan) Braun.
Rita was employed in the customer service department of MBNA. She retired in 2001 after 18 years of service. A person of deep faith, Rita was a devoted member of Holy Family Parish. Her greatest joy was spending time with her beloved family. She enjoyed dancing at the many family functions throughout the years. Rita was an avid reader and enjoyed watching Westerns. She loved living at the beach in Manasquan, New Jersey and made many wonderful memories there. Rita took great pleasure in traveling, and especially enjoyed visiting Ireland.
Rita was predeceased by her Husband of 56 years, Eugene F. Maloney III; her Son, Jeffery Maloney; her Son-In-Law, Donald “Moon” Berge’; her Granddaughter, Michelle Metcalfe-Jones; her Sisters, Eileen Braun, Nancy Cotter and Patricia Donovan.
Rita will be dearly missed by her Children, Janet Berge’, Michael Maloney, Catherine Maloney Bass and Husband, Joseph, Robert Maloney and Wife, Karen, Rita Hinderer and Husband, Ted; her Daughter-In-Law, Cheryl Maloney; her Grandchildren, Monica Hall (Brezz), Michael Lee Maloney, George Metcalfe (Rachel), Christopher Metacalfe (Lynda), Robert Jones, Amy Berge’, Linda Opalach (Walter), Jeffrey Maloney, Sarah Rodek (James), Steven Singleton, Robbie Bass, Steven King, Ethan Maloney, Sarah Holloway, Emily Holloway, Joshua Hinderer and Ashley Hinderer; 16 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great-Great Grandchildren. In addition, she is survived by her Sisters, Mary Moshier, Evelyn Kuntz, Susan Woiccak and Barbara Braun McDonald.
Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek on Friday, May 13 from 5:00 – 7:00PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Family Church, 15 Gender Road, Newark on Saturday, May 14 at 10:00AM, immediately followed by interment in All Saints Cemetery.
