Richard Gregory Ryan

Richard Gregory Ryan, 94, of Wilmington, DE peacefully passed away on Monday, September 27, 2021.  Born in Wilmington on November 21, 1926, he was the son of the late Charles and Mary “Boo” (McIntyre) Ryan. 

Richard was a veteran of the United States Navy, having honorably served our country in both World War II and the Korean War.  He was employed with the DuPont Company and retired after more than 40 years of dedicated service. 

A devoted family man, Richard deeply loved his wife, sons, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He enjoyed the company of others, a good joke and laughter.  Richard was a sports fan, and was a two time Delaware State Junior Tennis Champion. 

Richard is survived by his sons, Gregg, Michael and John Ryan; his grandchildren, Sarah Martin, Megan Newton, Erin Marshall, Lizzie Ryan, Gregory Ryan III, Lilianna Ryan and Zoe Ryan; his great grandchildren, Jack, Ben and Daniel Martin, Nate and Noah Newton, Max and Michael Marshall.

He was predeceased by his wife, Joan Marie (Pedrick) Ryan; his sister, Barbara Ryan.

Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 1900 Delaware Avenue, Wilmington on Tuesday, October 5 from 9:30-10:30AM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ann Church, Gilpin Avenue and Union Street at 11:00AM.  Interment will be held privately.
