Richard E. Bollinger, age 87, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his family.
He was married to Esther Palmer Bollinger, “the little girl next door”, for 64 years. He was born at home in Wilmington to the late Orpha (Cale) and Aaron Bollinger on March 2, 1933. He graduated from Conrad High School in 1951. He proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict for 2 years in the U.S. Navy.
Dick was an active member of Faith Baptist Church for over 50 years. He enjoyed his family, sports, reading and traveling. He coached Little League baseball and football. He was retired from Wyeth Labs in West Chester, PA.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three sons: David (Tina) of Greenville, SC, Jeffrey (Lisa) of Newark, and Gary (Missy) of Pike Creek. He’s also survived by his 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his brother, Edwin Bollinger, and his daughter-in-law, Machele Creek Bollinger.
A memorial service will take place at Faith Baptist Church, 4210 Limestone Rd., Wilmington, DE at 10am on Monday, March 1, 2021. A brief visitation period will take place prior to the service from 9:30-10am. Interment will take place at noon at Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Hwy, New Castle, DE. Guests are encouraged to be mindful of social distancing practices and will be required to wear a face mask while in attendance.
In lieu of flowers, the Bollinger family suggests memorial contributions be made in Dick’s name to Faith Baptist Church, 4210 Limestone Rd., Wilmington, DE 19808.
