On Tuesday June 21, 2022, Robert Alan Peoples passed away peacefully at Millcroft Nursing Home surrounded by family.
Born on October 1, 1939, to Robert H. and Lois (Pyle) Peoples, Alan was a lifelong Wilmington resident. A graduate of P. S. DuPont High School, Alan lettered in football and was a member of the P.S. DuPont legacy group, the Dynamiters.
Alan’s entire professional career was spent at his family’s business, Candy C. Mammele, Inc., a paint and coatings distributor. Alan was well known to the local contractors as a wealth of technical information for their most challenging projects. He retired as president of Canby C. Mammele, Inc. in 2007.
He was a kind and compassionate man, willing to lend assistance to those in need. He had a special soft spot for four-footed friends as a supporter of the Delaware Humane Association.
Alan was a man of strong Christian faith. He was an active member of Good News Church, serving in many capacities and was recently awarded Deacon Emeritus status.
He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Rosemarie (Boucher); siblings, Ruth Crawford (Herman), Lois Ellen Pyle (Jim), Frank Behrens (Marcie); sons, John (Beth) and Andrew (Ann-Marie); stepson, Michael Boucher (Jacquie); stepdaughter, Diana Boyd; grandchildren, Ben (Michele), Eric, Connor and Brendan Peoples, and Jonathan, Anthony and Laura Boucher; great-grandson, Lucas; and a number of wonderful nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and faithful dog, Danny.
A funeral service will be celebrated at 11:00am on Saturday, July 2, 2022 at Good News Church, 957 Old Lancaster Pike, Hockessin, DE, 19707, where family and friends may visit beginning at 10:00am. Interment will be private.
