Paul W. “Butch” Garwood, 82, of Wilmington, Delaware peacefully passed away surrounded by loving family on Wednesday, February 26, 2025. Born in Wilmington on April 7, 1942, he was the son of the late Horace and Alice (Kirn) Garwood.
Butch was a professional painter with Local #100, and served as a past president of the union. He was a passionate automobile enthusiast, having proudly built and restored many classic cars and street rods. Butch also looked forward to his yearly vacations with his wife and friends to the Outer Banks.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, John Garwood.
Butch will be dearly missed by his wife of 62 years, Elizabeth “Liz” (Burris) Garwood; his children, Brett A. Garwood and Leigh A. Garwood; his grandson, Andrew Schalles; several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to visit at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, 1700 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19804 on Friday, March 14 from 9:00 – 11:00AM. Funeral services will begin at 11:00AM, immediately followed by interment at Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Highway, New Castle, DE.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Paul Garwood may be made to St. Mark’s United Methodist Church or an animal shelter of your choice.
