Patricia C. Mulrooney

Patricia C. Mulrooney, of Wilmington, Delaware, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2026, at the age of 80, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Wilmington on November 24, 1945, Patricia was one of the beloved daughters of the late Lucien and Genegonde "Jenney" (Ruest) Caron. She attended Corpus Christi High School, graduating with the Class of 1963, and later earned her two-year nursing degree in 1965. Her caring nature led her to a fulfilling career as a Licensed Practical Nurse, faithfully serving for 37 years with Christiana Care. Throughout her career, she devoted much of her time to adolescent medicine, working with the First State School alongside Dr. Janet Kramer. Patricia found great purpose in caring for others and touched the lives of countless patients, families, and colleagues through her kindness, compassion, and dedication.

Outside of her profession, Patricia found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She had a remarkable eye for home decorating and delighted in creating beautiful flower arrangements. She was talented in sewing, needlepoint, and cross stitch, and she enjoyed playing the piano and gathering around the card table with family and friends. Above all, Patricia treasured the time she spent with those she loved, creating a home filled with warmth, laughter, and lasting memories.

She is survived by her loving husband of 59 1/2 years, Joseph F. Mulrooney; her sons, Scott Mulrooney and Timothy Mulrooney (Lauren); her cherished granddaughter, Camilla Mulrooney; her sister, Katherine DiMedio (Joe); her brother, Thomas Caron (Lucille); and many beloved nieces and nephews.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated staff of Delaware Hospice, as well as the doctors and nurses on Floor 4C at Christiana Hospital, for the exceptional care, compassion, and support they provided to Patricia and her family during a difficult time.

Patricia's many years of compassionate service to the students of the First State School made this cause especially meaningful to her, and the family is grateful for gifts made in her memory.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. at St. John the Beloved Catholic Church, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington, DE 19808, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 noon. Interment will be private.
