Patricia McLaughlin

Patricia (Stradley) McLaughlin, 90, of Wilmington, Delaware passed away peacefully at home on February 13, 2025. Until the end, Patricia maintained her kindness, grace, and compassion. Her family, friends, and faith were the foundation and driving force of her life. 

Patricia was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend. Born on September 25, 1934, in Chester, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Catherine (Clark) Stradley. 

She had 45 blessed years with her husband, William M. McLaughlin, Sr., before his death in 2001. They met and overcame life's challenges with an enduring love, commitment, patience, and humor. Their children, Mary Patricia McLaughlin, Kathleen McLaughlin, Theresa Green, Denise McGirr (Matthew), Maureen Arsola (Joe), Joanne Downie, Michele Giofre (Ralph), and William McLaughlin (Donna), were a great source of pride, joy, and laughter. Her incredible legacy of love continues with their 15 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren.

She is survived by her sister Maryann Rzucidlo (Stanley), her brother-in-law Rick Bennett, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her sisters Kathleen Bufano (Harry) and Eileen Bennett.

Patricia graduated from St. Francis Nursing School. She went on to be a nursing supervisor, director of nursing, and executive administrator. With her kindness and compassion, Patricia was loved by her patients and peers.

Patricia treasured spending time with family and friends. She found solace in her faith and volunteered as a eucharistic minister. She loved reading, crafting, basket weaving, and crossword puzzles. Patricia inspired and encouraged everyone who knew her.

A visitation will be held at St. Helena's Catholic Church, 602 Philadelphia Pike, Wilmington, DE 19809 on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 from 11:00am to 12:00pm with a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 12:00pm. Following the mass, a brief committal service will be held at the Delaware Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Bear DE.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Jesus House Prayer and Renewal or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
