Patricia A. Marra (née Murray) passed after a sudden illness on Friday, January 7th, 2022 at Christiana Hospital.
Born in 1936 to Walter and Helen Murray (née Kelly), she was predeceased by her husband of nearly 60 years, Joseph Marra; her son, David Marra (Cara); her daughter, Mary Monaghan (John); her granddaughter, Elena Marra; her sister, Mary Katherine Murray; her brothers, Walter “Buddy” Murray, Gerard Murray (Rosemary) and Joseph Murray. Pat is survived by her children, Joseph Marra, Gregory Marra (Marie), Suzanne Shealy (Glenn), Julie Ciuffetelli (Tim Hudson), son-in-law John Monaghan, eighteen grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Pat graduated from St. Elizabeth’s High School in 1954 and attended Goldey Beacom College. She and Joe married in 1955. In 1956 they welcomed their first child and also moved to Indiana, where Joe finished his education at the University of Notre Dame and they were blessed with two more children. They settled in Delaware in 1959 and added three more children to the family.
Pat stayed busy caring and cooking for her crowd and attending and transporting all to their activities. As her children grew, she was happy working with her friends in the Sears hardware department for many years. Most of all, Pat cherished her role as MeMom to her ever growing family. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with Joe at their Jersey shore home, gardening, reading and just a little gambling. We will miss her stories and quick wit and of course, her cooking.
Visitation will be at St. John the Beloved Church on Friday, January 14th, 2022 beginning at 11:00am with Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00pm. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery. To be mindful of everyone's varying health conditions, facemasks should be worn while in attendance at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Pat can be made to Saint Vincent dePaul, care of St John the Beloved, 907 Milltown Rd., Wilmington, DE 19808.
