Miriam “Pat” (Edwards) Reeves, 87, previously of Aston, Pennsylvania and most recently of Hockessin, Delaware, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home, surrounded by loving family, on Tuesday, September 9, 2025. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on August 25, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Thomas B., Sr. and Laura M. (Carroll) Edwards.
Pat was a graduate of Murrell Dobbins High School in Philadelphia. She was the proud matriarch of her family, a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a doting Nanny to her adored grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Pat took joy in being present for her children’s milestones, whether it was cheering for Stephen at his marching band competitions or supporting Kathy at her swim meets. She treasured every opportunity to celebrate her family’s accomplishments and was happiest when surrounded by those she loved.
She enjoyed cheering on the Philadelphia Phillies, celebrating with the Mummers, and entertaining family and friends with her Mummers cape and dance moves. Following her husband Buzz’s retirement, she cherished traveling across the United States with him in their RV. After making Hockessin her home, Pat became a member of St. Catherine of Siena Parish in Wilmington.
Pat will be dearly missed by her children, Kathy Hidalgo and husband, Rod, and Stephen Reeves and wife, Brenda; her grandchildren, Courtney Hidalgo, Rick Hidalgo and fiancée, Rebecca Ashton-Parsons, Regan Hidalgo and wife, Julia, Brianna (Reeves) Ramos and husband, Denimax, Ciara Reeves, and Gabriella Reeves; and her great-grandchildren, Annabella and Greyson Murray. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of nearly 64 years, Hubert “Buzz” Reeves; her brother, Thomas B. Edwards II, as well as her sister, Joan E. Lewis.
Family and friends are invited to the viewing at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 2503 Centerville Road, Wilmington, on Tuesday, September 16, from 10:30–11:45AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00PM, immediately followed by interment in All Saints Cemetery.
