Michael Austin Obituary

Michael William Austin, age 61, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 15, 2021 with his loving wife by his side.

Born in Fort Sam Houston, Texas, Mike was the son of the late William M. and Temple Loretta (Davis) Austin. He was a Captain in the U.S Army serving for more than eleven years and is a veteran of Operation Just Cause and Desert Storm. Mike was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree from University of Maryland Baltimore County and with a Master of Science Degree in Security and Information Assurance (MSIA) from Norwich University. He spent his career as a Cyber Intelligence Analyst and had worked for CACI for the last ten years.

Mike enjoyed reading, especially political and military themed books and biographies. He would also watch the news going from channel to channel to hear different perspectives. In his earlier years, he enjoyed golfing, playing the trumpet, football, basketball and wrestling. He was also a “Trekkie” and loved anything Star Trek. Through his tenure in the Army, Mike was able to travel to a few exotic places like Panama, Turkey, Egypt and Somalia.  Although he did not have a chance to travel much with his family, he did enjoy a very special family vacation several years ago on a cruise to the Bahamas.

Mike will be remembered for being very serious at times, yet also having a goofy and silly side to himself .  He will be best remembered for being a loving and extremely supportive brother and a loving and devoted husband and father.

Mike is survived by his wife of 17 years, Shirley (Huang) Austin; his son, Trevor W. Austin; his sister, Diveka F. (Austin) Brown and her husband, Kelvin; and his brother, Greg Austin and partner, Michael McMillan. He was predeceased by his parents.
