Michael Angelo Ascione

Michael “Mike” Ascione, 51, of Wilmington, Delaware, went home to the Lord on May 8, 2026.

Michael was a follower of Jesus Christ and was deeply devoted to his faith. He honorably served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve. Upon completion of his service, he worked for many years as a skilled plumber and continued serving the community in the plumbing department at Lowe’s, where he was respected by coworkers and customers alike.

Mike was known for his love of the Chicago Bears and could often be found cheering passionately for his team. In September 2022, Michael made it to Soldier Field for the first time, and the boys must have known, because they actually won the game.

Michael was a dedicated son. He was cherished by his siblings as the baby of the family and was known as a top-notch uncle, and faithful friend.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent Sr. and Charlotte Ascione; and his brothers, Robin Ascione and Jimmy Ascione. He is survived by his brother, Vincent Ascione Jr. (Gail); his sisters, Lisa Ascione and Gina Fleming; his nieces and nephews, Nikki, Chrissy, Jim, Christopher, Joey, Annamarie, Anthony, Patrick, Carli, and Angelina; several grand-nieces and grand-nephews, with one grand-niece on the way; and his friend since childhood, Ken Hawke, whom he considered his fourth brother.

Our brother, uncle, and friend will be missed immeasurably on this earth, but we know he is now rejoicing in glory with the Lord.

Family and friends are invited to the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808, on Tuesday, June 9, 2026. Visitation will start at 10:00am, with a service to follow at 11:00am. Interment will be private.
