Mary Lou Boyce Obituary

Mary Lou Derickson Boyce, 84, of Wilmington, Delaware died on Friday, July 29, 2022. 

Mary Lou was a 1956 graduate of Conrad High School and a 1959 graduate of The Memorial Hospital School of Nursing.  A registered nurse by profession, during her 50 year nursing career she worked in several doctors’ offices and retired after 20 years from Cokesbury Village, Hockessin, DE.  A second, fun career was at Goldey-Beacom College as a food service assistant for 13 years. 

Mary Lou attended Red Clay Creek Presbyterian Church for many years, where she served as a Deacon and played in the Bell Choir.  She also belonged to the Koinonia Class of the Richardson Park United Methodist Church.  Mary Lou was a member of the Memorial Hospital Alumnae Association, where she served on the Board of Directors for many years.  In addition, she was a member of the Dickinson Organ Society. 

Mary Lou was predeceased by her husband of nearly 63 years, William F. Boyce Jr.; her brother, James L. Derickson; her parents, James and Mildred (Dennison) Derickson.

Survivors include her children, David W. Boyce (Ann Cameron) and Diane E. Pyle (DJ); her grandchildren, Alexis Boyce and Andrew Boyce (Ashleigh and son, Brixton); her great grandson, Sterling Boyce; her brother, Rod Derickson (Gail); her sister-in-law, Jean Derickson.

A visitation will be held at Red Clay Creek Presbyterian Church, 500 McKennans Church Road, Wilmington on Saturday, August 13 from 10:30 – 11:00AM.  The funeral service will begin at 11:00AM, with interment following in the adjoining cemetery.
