Mary A. (Marcolin) Vesnaver

Mary A. Vesnaver, age 96, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, December 30, 2020.

She was born in San Martino di Campagna, Italy, daughter of the late Guiseppe and Elizabetta (Cigolotti) Marcolin.  Along with her husband, John and their daughter, Grace, Mary immigrated to the United States in 1951, first settling in Galena, MD and eventually in Wilmington, DE.

Mary dedicated her life to raising and caring for her family. She was a kind and gentle soul; was an exceptional cook and enjoyed singing, gardening, playing cards and completing puzzles.

She is survived by her children, Grace Burris (Michael, deceased), Susie Bonis  (Jack), and Robert Vesnaver; her grandchildren, Laura Cullen (Jason), Rebecca Smith (David), Brian Bonis (Kathleen), Sarah Goit (Matthew), Jeff Bonis (Chrissy), Andrew Bonis (Stef) and Timothy Bonis (Laura); her 27 great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Luciana Del Savio and Davide Marcolin.

Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808 on Thursday, January 7, 2021 from 4:00 – 6:00pm.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am on Friday, January 8, 2021 at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 301 N Bancroft Parkway, Wilmington, DE 19805. Interment will follow in Silverbrook Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Mary’s family suggests contributions in her memory be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to Seasons Hospice, 220 Continental Drive, Newark, DE 19713.
