Mary M. (Catalogna) Pacchioli, 91, of Hockessin, Delaware, peacefully passed away with loved ones at her side on Wednesday, September 28, 2022. Born in Wilmington on July 29, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Guiseppi and Margherita (DiGiacobbe) Catalogna.
Mary was a graduate of Wilmington High School, class of 1950, and married her beloved husband, Thomas on May 24, 1952. As a loving and devoted homemaker, Mary found great joy in spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Mary was a dedicated member of St. Elizabeth Parish since 1954. She enjoyed gardening, tending to her rose garden, and spending time over the years with her German Shepherd dogs.
Mary’s husband of 63 years, Thomas J. Pacchioli, passed away on April 1, 2015. She was also predeceased by her sister, Josephine Covelli (Samuel); her brothers, William Catalogna (Nancy), Albert Catalogna (Mary), and Alfred Catalogna.
Mary will be lovingly remembered by her children, Joseph T. Pacchioli (Charlene), Mary A. Scarborough, and Donna M. Whiting (Anthony Grandinetti); her grandchildren, Bryan Pacchioli (Amy), Sarah Hellstern (Jordan), Christina Hathaway (Brian), Nick Bird, Nicole Wilson (Chad Thomas), Michael and Maria Whiting; her great grandchildren, Dominick Bird, Ariana Wilson, Charles “Tuck” Thomas IV, Ava Hathaway, Harper, Savannah and Eva Hellstern. In addition, Mary is survived by a niece, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to thank the staff at The Summit Assisted Living and Delaware Hospice for the compassionate and attentive care given to Mary.
Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek on Wednesday, October 5 from 9:30 – 11:00 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Elizabeth Church, Cedar and Clayton Streets, Wilmington at 12:00 PM, immediately followed by entombment in the St. Theresa Garden Crypt, Cathedral Cemetery.
