Mary Lowicki, 93, peacefully passed away surrounded by loving family on Tuesday, June 14, 2022. Born in Wilmington in 1928, she would have celebrated her 94th birthday in three weeks. Mary is preceded in death by her husband John Lowicki; her parents, Walter and Malvina; her brother, Frank; and her grandson, John Duncan.
Mary was a lifelong member of St. Hedwig Parish, was proud to have received her education from the parish grade school and high school, and looked forward to the annual Polish Festival. A loving and devoted homemaker, she was a talented cook who enjoyed preparing delicious meals for her family. Mary also enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed puzzle books, watching the Food Network Channel, colorful flowers and trips to Shop Rite, especially looking forward to their weekly circular. She was very proud of her Polish heritage and was fluent in the language. Mary was known to everyone as “Babci”.
Mary is survived by her three children: Joan Bartkovich (Barry) and her children, Amanda and Nathan; John Lowicki (Joan) and his children, Julinna, John Jr. and Julian; and Mary Duncan (Bill) and her children, Bill and Nick. She also has four great grandchildren, Caden, Ali, Jace and Zack.
Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek on Monday, June 20 from 9:00-10:30AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Hedwig Church, Linden and S. Harrison Streets, Wilmington at 11:30AM, immediately followed by entombment in All Saints Cemetery.
