Mary Lebidziewicz Obituary

Mary Theresa (Fucella) Lebidziewicz, age 91, passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus, her Savior, on Monday, November 16, 2020 with her loving family by her side.

Mary was born on August 1, 1929 to Theresa and George Fucella in Wilmington, DE.  Mary was a 1947 graduate of St Elizabeth's High School. After graduation, she worked as a secretary for several different business offices and later on opened her own cleaning business. She met the love of her life, Stanley, and they were married on February 19, 1949 (71 blessed years).

Mary was a deeply passionate, caring, family oriented woman, who loved spending time with her family, especially during the holidays. Her family adored her and loved her contagious laughter.  She loved to be surrounded by her family's "joyful noise." She was a wise and wonderful mother and grandmother. She was known as "Mom-Mom" and "G-Mom" by her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mary and Stanley enjoyed watching Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, and comedy movies. They could sit for hours and play cards. When they weren't sitting, they loved to dance and sing together. They enjoyed the Big Band tunes and had several favorites, such as "At Last" by Glenn Miller, and "Gotta Pebble In My Shoe" sung by Ella Fitzgerald.

Mary and Stanley were faithful parishioners of St Hedwig's Church. Mary had a strong faith and believed that her life should reflect the faith she had in God by fearing nothing, pray about everything, trust God and His Word in all things. As a result, Mary showed strength, determination and resilience throughout her life. Mary will be greatly missed by her family and friends for her compassion and words of wisdom.

Mary is predeceased by her parents, Theresa and George Fucella; her daughter, Rose Marie Trotto; her sister and brother-in-law, Rose Marie and Theodore Pankowski; and son-in-law, John Lambert Lednum.

Mary is survived by her loving and caring husband, Stanley; her two daughters, Mary Theresa Lednum of Newark, DE, Diane Wiley (David) of Dunedin, FL; her son-in-law, Dennis Gray of Maryland; her 2 grandchildren, John Daniel Lednum (Lisa) of Newark, DE and Lindsay Erin Keller (Steve) of Bear, DE; 4 great grandchildren, John Anthony Lednum, Chase Daniel Lednum, Reece Jamieson Keller and Addisyn Erin Keller; two nephews, Theodore Pankowski (Debbie) and James Pankowski (Dianne); and several great nieces and nephews.

We would like to thank everyone who provided support during Mary's illness, including the doctors, nurses, technicians, and aids of Churchman Village, Delaware Hospice and Seasons Hospice. We are so thankful for the kindness of all of the caregivers who became a friend to Mary and the whole family.

Family and friends are invited to the visitation at St. Hedwig’s Church, Linden and S. Harrison Streets, Wilmington on Monday, November 23 from 11:00-11:45AM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00PM, with a private interment following for family only.  A live stream of Mary’s Mass will be available on the St. Hedwig Parish Facebook page (St. Hedwig Roman Catholic Church).
