Mark E Pennington, 68 of Clayton, DE passed away on Monday January 26, 2026 after a difficult and courageous battle with cancer.
Mark was born July 20, 1957. He was preceded in death by his father, Edwin Pennington; mother, Shirley Pennington Queen, and husband Daniel J Queen Jr, all of Wilmington.
He is survived by his brother, Vincent “Purkey” Pennington of Bear, DE; Carla Pennington; and loving daughter, Amanda Bendler of Port Penn, DE. In addition, his extended family members, step brothers and sisters, Michael Queen (Barbi) of Wilmington, Daniel J Queen IV of Cypress, TX and sister, Sherri Queen Pawlyk of Dover, DE.
Mark graduated from Delcastle High School in 1976. He went on to work for Chrysler Corporation in Newark, DE. He worked in several departments throughout his career, until Chrysler’s closing.
Mark moved from Wilmington to Clayton, DE to enjoy the peace and quiet of country life he loved so much. He was an avid outdoorsmen, sportsman, and hunter. He also enjoyed traveling to many auctions throughout the tri-state area, enjoying old car and tractor shows.
Mark and his family want to sincerely thank the nurses and doctors at the Helen Graham Center, along with sincere gratitude for all the nurses and technicians at Christiana Care - 6E wing.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday February 7, 2026 at 11:00 AM with visitation beginning at 10:30 AM at the Doherty Funeral Home 3200 Limestone Road Pike Creek, Wilmington, DE 19808.
In lieu of Flowers, the family suggests donations go to St. Jude’s Cancer Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
