Margaret A. May, age 79, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 21, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Margaret was a devoted mother to her five children: Michele May; Tina Kelly (Chris); Ozzie May, Jr. (Carla); Jaimie Lynn May (Roy); and Sherrie Shevchuck (Bryan). She was a proud grandmother to eleven grandchildren: Rachel, Branden (Erin), Andrew, Cameron, Caitlyn, Mackenzie, Michael, Courtney, Gabrielle, Eric, and Madelyn, and she was eagerly awaiting the arrival of her first great-grandchild, due in June.
She is also survived by her loving sisters, Jeannette Crowley (Michael) and Fran Johnson; her sister-in-law, Wendy Johnson; and many cherished nieces and nephews.
Margaret was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ozzie May, Sr.; her parents, Helen and Charles Johnson; her brothers, Charles Johnson and William Johnson; and her faithful companion, Old Yeller.
Born and raised in Wilmington, Delaware, Margaret dedicated over 30 years of service to St. Francis Hospital. Family was at the center of her life, and she especially treasured time spent with her loved ones. She delighted in family trips to Disney World, shopping, beach outings, breakfasts at Shady Maple Smorgasbord, and attending oldies concerts.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Danielle, Becca, Devin, and Dee of Accent Hospice for their compassionate care and support.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808.
