Margaret F. Lawson, age 83, of Middletown, DE, gained her wings at home on June 4th, 2025.
Treasured mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, dog mom, and friend, was born February 12th, 1942 in Wilmington, Delaware to the late Lillian Weiant and John Goodyear.
Margaret loved her family, gardening, going on trips, collecting snow babies, watching horror flicks and most of all she loved playing the slot machines at Wildwood’s boardwalk. She also had a profound love for country music, especially Conway Twitty, that she passed down to her kids and grandkids. One of her favorite and most talked about adventures was going to Niagra Falls and told all her family and friends to add it to their bucket lists. She was also a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan and rarely missed the opportunity to watch a game. Outside of being a devoted mother, she worked as a respected car dealer for many years and finished her career retiring from MBNA. She was the greatest life coach and had an uncanny ability to make you feel better during any life crisis. Margaret took great pleasure in spending time with her kids, grandkids, siblings, friends and her beloved dog, Maddie. Her life was a blessing and her memory a treasure. She was greatly loved, will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts.
In addition to her parents, Margaret is preceded in death by her son, Charles J. Rhoades; her brothers, Harry Weiant, Scott Weiant, John Goodyear; and her sister, Elizabeth Goodyear. She is survived by her children; Peggy S. Fritts (Zyndal Fritts), James C. Rhoades, and Thomas Lawson Sr.; her grandchildren; Amanda S. Krzywosinski (Phillip Krzywosinski), Brandon L. Fritts (Amanda Lang), Zandra D. Fritts (Don Brock), Thomas L. Lawson Jr., Daimen A. Lawson, Cailee M. Lawson; her great-grandchildren, Zoey L. Cyr, Gavin L. Cyr, Cheyenne Fritts, Starla Fritts, Atom Eliscar, Declan Krzywosinski, Zachary Fritts, and Denzel Brock. She is also survived by her siblings, Raymond Goodyear, Lillian Coalson, Laura McLaughlin, Patricia Smith, Ellen Ashe, Erma Goodyear; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Monday, June 16th, 2025 from 11am-12pm at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Rd., Wilmington, DE 19808. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park located at 2220 N Dupont Hwy, New Castle, DE 19720.
