Margaret M. Craig, age 87, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 9, 2021.
Born in Wilmington, DE, Margaret was the daughter of the late John J. McGrellis, Jr. and Mary E. Handlin. Margaret’s most important job was raising her four children. Once they were grown, she worked in the Acme Meat Department for fifteen years. Before retiring, Margaret was an office administrator with General Motors for thirteen years.
Family was the greatest part of Margaret’s life. Nothing was more important than spending time with her children and grandchildren. Margaret never missed a game, a sporting event or a party. She treasured making trays of Christmas cookies with her children and grandchildren every year. Margaret never said no and was always there to help anyone in need.
Margaret enjoyed crocheting, especially her cherished baby blankets. She loved the beach and going for long walks. Margaret also enjoyed traveling with her family. Some of her favorite trips included going to Scotland, Hawaii and Puerto Rico, as well as cruising to Alaska. She also enjoyed playing Bingo every Wednesday.
Margaret is survived by her children, Eileen Pennington (Robert), Bonni Brown, Nanci Jones and Thomas Craig, Jr.; her siblings, Joseph McGrellis (Diane), Andrew McGrellis (Diane), Alice Stump, and Mary Jane McCann; her eleven grandchildren; her seventeen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents; her siblings, Harry McGrellis, James McGrellis, John McGrellis, III, and Janet Quesenberry; and her granddaughter, Carisa Steinly.
