All-star cancer warrior Linda Susan (Manna) Larrimore went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 3rd, 2022 after an eleven-year battle with colon cancer.
She was born in Upland, PA to the late L. James Manna and Sylvia (Hickling) Manna on December 17, 1954. Linda was raised in Claymont, DE and graduated from Claymont HS and the University of Delaware. Linda worked in the banking, insurance, and medical fields throughout her career. Until being hospitalized in February 2022, Linda worked at a job she truly loved as a surgical biller for First State Orthopedics. As a member of the FSO Family she met several incredibly close friends that she referred to as her “step-sisters,” who provided invaluable support for Linda and her family throughout her illness.
Linda was a member of Oncology Patients Advocating Clinical Trials (OPACT) and took part in several clinical trials. Through this group she appeared at community events, college nursing classes, and was even a patient representative for the Cancer Moonshot. She appeared on a TV News program and was a covergirl for a cancer magazine. Linda was always willing to share her story and referred to herself as the poster girl for why you should get screened for colon cancer. Linda felt that God kept her around for so long so that she could help others deal with their cancer. While receiving chemo treatment at the Helen Graham Cancer Center, she could be found encouraging other patients, and it was not uncommon to hear laughter when Linda was holding a meeting.
Linda is survived by her loving husband of 46-years Robert R. Larrimore. She is also survived by her sons Robert A. Larrimore (Charity) of St. Peters, MO and Steven J. Larrimore (Ashley) of Wilmington, and her precious grandson Andrew of St. Peters, MO. She is also survived by her mother Sylvia Manna of Claymont and her siblings John Manna (Julie) of Trinidad, CO, James Manna (Denise) of New Castle, Cindy Ross of Claymont, Sharon Stoy (Chuck) of Garnet Valley, in addition to many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Linda was a member of Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Newark. She appreciated all of the cards, texts, emails, and especially prayers that she received from her church family throughout the years. Linda and her family would like to thank all of the numerous family members and friends that assisted with caring for her over the years, no matter the task. They would also like to thank her Oncologist Dr. Pamela Simpson and the entire Helen Graham Cancer Center team for the many years of exceptional care.
Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek on Wednesday, May 11 from 4:00 – 6:00PM. Funeral services will be held at Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Newark, 308 Possum Park Road, Newark, DE 19711 on Thursday, May 12 at 10:00AM.
