Lewis H. Morris, age 91, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 19, 2021.
He was born in Centerville, MD, son of the late Charles and Wilhemina (Turner) Morris and served honorably in the US Army during the Korean War. Lewis went on to enjoy a 26-year career as a Teamster’s Local 326 truck driver for Wooleyhan Transport, where he also enjoyed bowling for the company team for many years.
Lewis enjoyed playing his daily lottery numbers and scratching instant tickets and made sure to attend every baseball game for both his son, Gary, and grandson, Keith. After retirement, he enjoyed many wonderful trips with his wife, Charlotte, and their friends, Winnie and Barbara Spence. He was also a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 70 years, Charlotte (Cox) Morris; his children, Gary Morris (Helen) and Gail Steele (Randy); his grandchildren, Keith (Kathleen), Shannon (Kevin), and Nicholas (Miranda); and his six great-grandchildren, Kevin, Colin, Cole, Lily, McKenna, and Nick. His family was his pride and joy.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:30pm on Friday, April 23, 2021, at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek, where family and friends may visit beginning at 1:30pm. Interment will be private.
