Leone Liann Krout, age 60, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family after a brief and courageous battle with cancer.
She was born in Amherst, MA, daughter of Wallace and the late Sophie (Liu) Yau. In addition to her deep dedication as a loving mother and beloved wife, Leone enjoyed a 30-year career as a paralegal and business owner; and in the last 10 years, pursued her passion as a museum curator and director, most recently for the Cooch’s Bridge Historic Site and Museum.
She was a self-taught painter; dog-lover; and adventurer. Leone enjoyed spending time on the river, whether crabbing or kayaking; but above all else, she cherished bringing family and friends together with food and love. Her generous spirit and kind and caring support for others will always be remembered.
Leone is survived by her husband, Ryan; her children, Amanda Cahill (Daniel McCole), and Arthur Cahill; and her brother, Stanley Yau.
Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808 on Thursday, August 14, 2025, from 10:00am – 11:30am. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Leone’s memory may be made to the Brandywine Valley SPCA – Delaware, 290 Churchmans Road, New Castle, DE 19720.
