Lawrence J. O’Toole, Jr., age 63, of Wilmington, DE, passed away after a hard-fought 2-year battle with ALS. Larry was born in Wilmington, DE, son of Julia A. O’Toole (Rubini) and the late Lawrence J. O’Toole, Sr. He was a graduate of Thomas McKean High School and Wilmington University and enjoyed a career in graphic design and advertising.
Larry had a passion for music, the theatre, writing, photography and traveling, especially exploring the National Parks. Larry was always there to lend a hand, especially to his family and closest friends. He was beloved by his siblings, who were dedicated to supporting him and who were by his side throughout his valiant battle. Above all, Larry will be remembered for his generosity, his sense of humor and his unwavering love for his family.
In addition to his mother Julie, Larry is survived by his siblings, Maureen E. Murphy, Loraine M. O’Toole, David L. O’Toole, Diane Ruth-Jennings (Steven) and Darren J. O’Toole (Carly). He is also survived by his nephews, Christian J. Ruth and Daniel P. Murphy; and his grand-niece, Isabelle A. Ruth (Bella).
A Memorial Service will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808, where family and friends may visit beginning at 9:30 am. Interment will be private.
