Larry F. Day, Sr.

Larry F. Day, Sr., 71, of Wilmington, Delaware passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on Sunday, May 7, 2023.  Born in Wilmington on October 13, 1951, he was the son of the late Lawrence Richard and Dorothy Irene (Reeves) Day, and step-son of the late Garland Eugene Day.

Larry was a proud veteran of the United States Army, having served our country in Germany during the Vietnam War with the 3D Infantry Division.  He worked as an over the road commercial driver and certified heavy equipment operator in the Wilmington area. 

Larry was an avid motorcycle rider and automobile enthusiast.  He enjoyed collecting anything that had potential along with Harley Davidson memorabilia.  He was especially proud of “Big White”, his ’73 Harley Davidson FLH Shovelhead, which he received as a wedding gift in 1979 from his best friend.  Larry was a big fan of classic rock music, owned a large selection of vinyl and enjoyed many road trips with his wife throughout the years while capturing life through amateur photography.  Above all else, Larry was a strong man with a loving and generous heart.  He will be missed by all those who knew him.

Sadly, Larry was predeceased by his son, Larry F. Day, Jr.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 44 years, Maria (Figurelli) Day; his daughter, Melissa A. Day; his grandchildren, Kain and Hayden Day; his sisters, Nancy James and husband, Richard, Flora Talbott and husband, Sam; as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek on Friday, May 19 from 10:00 – 11:00AM, with a Remembrance Service immediately following.
