Kenneth G. Koubek, age 81, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at Christiana Hospital in Newark, Delaware.
Born on December 20, 1944, in Hackensack, New Jersey, Ken was the beloved son of the late John and Mildred Koubek. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, completing two tours of duty, a testament to his dedication and sense of duty. Following his service, he went on to earn his degree from Central Michigan University, graduating with the Class of 1978.
Ken built a distinguished career as an information scientist and chemist, contributing his expertise to several well-known companies over the years, including Rohm and Haas, ICI, AstraZeneca, Dow Chemical and Coca-Cola. Ken was an Emeritus Member of ACS and an administrator for PUIG (Patent Users Information Group). His work reflected both his intelligence and dedication to his field.
Outside of his professional life, Ken was a man who embraced joy in the everyday. He enjoyed bowling, loved to dance, and rarely missed an opportunity to watch wrestling. He was a devoted fan of Elvis Presley and especially loved listening to his favorite band, Journey. Ken also had a well-known fondness for pistachio ice cream, a simple pleasure that always brought him a smile.
Ken is survived by his loving wife, Rose Koubek; his daughter, Liz DeGroff; as well as, Kristine Koubek Tuttleman, Kenneth Koubek; and his stepchildren, Michael Lake and Sara Malchione. He will be remembered for his warmth, his lively spirit, and the love he shared with his family and friends.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Monday, May 11, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808, where a funeral service will begin at 3:00 pm.
