Kathleen Anderson Winter

Kathleen Anderson Winter, age 66, of Wilmington, DE passed away on Sunday, September 3rd, 2023.

Kathy attended high school in Switzerland and she graduated from the International School of Geneva (Ècole Internationale de Genève) in 1975. She also attended Wesley College in Dover, DE, earning her Registered Nurse degree in 1979.

Kathy worked as a registered nurse specializing in Critical Care and Emergency Room Care at several hospitals in New Castle Co. A spontaneous encounter in an ER in Wilmington is what led Kathy to her future husband, Robert D. Winter, M.D. They went on to marry and start a family consisting of three children. Kathy later became a licensed real estate agent and builder with Linmere Home from 1998 – 2000.

One of Kathy’s true passions was horseback riding (hunter-jumper) and horse breeding. She was a member of the United States Equestrian Federation, the Delaware Equine Council and the U.S. Hunter-Jumper Association. She also loved collecting equine art and had a vast collection. Kathy had a heart for all animals and she deeply loved her dogs. In her spare time, Kathy also enjoyed creative activities like paper crafts, scrapbooking, sewing and needlepoint.

Kathy was preceded in death by her father, Robert L. Anderson, and her brother, Thomas Anderson.

She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Robert D. Winter, M.D.; her eldest child, Douglas A. Winter; her middle child, Lauren V. Merkel (Kevin); her youngest child, Caroline D. Winter; her mother, Suzanne S. Anderson; her sister, Jane Anderson; her brother, John Anderson (Kirsten); her nephews, Thomas Anderson, Paul Anderson, Richard Winter, Robert Winter, Donald Winter; her niece, Catherine Anderson; her brother-in-law, Richard Winter; her sister-in-law, Beverly Winter; and her step-mother, Cinda Anderson.

Family and friends are invited to a memorial service for Kathy on Saturday, September 9th, 2023 at 10:30AM at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1502 W. 13th St., Wilmington, DE 19806.
