Karen (Hansen) Anderson

Karen Hansen Anderson, age 64, of Newark, DE, went to meet her lord and savior on Friday, November 7, 2025, peacefully surrounded by her family.

Born in Wilmington to the late Howard and Aurelia (Wichlinski) Hansen, Karen attended St. Mark’s HS and University of Delaware. In addition to lovingly raising her own children, she spent most of her career sharing that motherly love with adults with autism and special needs, most recently with Autism Delaware. A staunch follower of Jesus, she was also very active in her church, the Wilmington Church of the Brethren, where she loved to share her time and talents on mission trips throughout the country alongside her husband.

Karen enjoyed skiing, camping, fishing, spending time at the beach and Florida Keys, and watching sports, particularly the Eagles and NASCAR (especially Jeff Gordon). Above all else, she cherished her time spent with family.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Kevin Anderson; her children, Brianna Hansen (Brendan), Chase Anderson (Amanda), and Tayler Baker (Tom); her grandchildren, Harlo, Thomas, Charlotte, Aria, and Olivia; her sister, Stephanie Hansen; and her beloved dog, Darla.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808, where family and friends may visit beginning at 10:00am. Interment will be private.
