Judy L. Walmsley

Judy L. Walmsley, 70, of Hockessin, DE, passed away on June 2nd, 2025, reunited in heaven with her husband, Jim, and her parents. Born on April 19th, 1955, in Wilmington, Delaware, Judy was a loving daughter, devoted wife, proud mother, and cherished grandmother.

Judy was the daughter of Irvin Price and Elizabeth (Covert) Price, who preceded her in death. She is also preceded by her beloved husband of 47 years, James R. “Jim” Walmsley, Sr. Judy’s legacy lives on through her family, including her daughter, Tracy Pryor and her husband Brendan; her son, James R. "Jimmy" Walmsley, Jr. and his wife Fredia; and her three grandchildren, Lawrence Walmsley, Hunter Pryor, and Lucas Walmsley. She is also survived by her two brothers, Ed Price (Cherie) and John Price (Joanne), who held a special place in her heart.

Judy graduated from Delcastle High School in the Class of 1973 and went on to enjoy a fulfilling career in retail that spanned over 40 years. She was known for her dedication and work ethic, having spent time at several establishments including Children's Shoe Boat, Carlton's Cards, and Famous Footwear. Her warmth and kindness touched everyone who walked into her store, and her smile brought joy to countless customers.

In her personal life, Judy was a vibrant member of her community. She shared many happy moments at the Wilmington Elks' Lodge, where she accompanied her husband Jim, enjoying the camaraderie and friendship formed there. Judy also had a strong passion for life, engaging in hobbies that brought her joy such as crabbing, gardening, and solving crossword puzzles. She cherished quality time spent with her children, grandchildren, and pets, often found relaxing in her gazebo or on her porch. Family vacations at the beach were a highlight of her life, where laughter and memories were made. Judy was truly dedicated to her family.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday, June 11th, 2025 from 2pm-3pm at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Rd., Wilmington, DE 19808. A memorial service will begin at 3PM.
