Joseph (Sonny) H. Hall III

Joseph H. Hall III (Sonny), age 82, of Newark, DE, passed away on Tuesday, September 5th, 2023 at Christiana Hospital surrounded by his family.

The son of the late Joseph H. Hall, Sr. and Della Mae (McDaniel) Hall, Joseph was born in Wilmington in 1941. He worked as an auto mechanic for many years and after his retirement, he was a clerk at the Churchman’s Road Liquor Store. He was also in the Army Reserves.

Joseph loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren & great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed reading and solving Sudoku puzzles.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Helen (Peterson) Hall of Bear, DE; his daughters, Dianne Holleran of St. Georges, DE and Tina Hall (Larry Wilson) of Bear, DE; his son, Joseph H. Hall IV (Christina) of Harrington, DE; his grandchildren, Christine Antes (Sam) of Wilmington, DE, Robert Holleran (Brandon Marx) of Wilmington, DE, Joseph H. Hall V (Morgan) of Clayton, DE, Amber Ritchie (Zach) of Millsboro, DE, Tiffani Miller (Dave) of Bear, DE, Tiara Garnett of New Castle, DE, Tiemere Hall (Maria Stevens) of Bear, DE, and Tiajah Wilson; and his great-grandchildren, Jake Antes, Kyleigh Hall, Julia Hall, Jaxon Ritchie, Alysen Ritchie, Logan Ritchie, Ivory Miller, Eli Miller, Melody Rodriguez, Sienna Hall.

Family and friends are invited to visit from 10-11AM on Thursday, September 14th, 2023 at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Rd., Wilmington, DE 19808. A funeral service will begin at 11AM. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Hwy., New Castle, DE.
